United Methodist Women (UMW) is a faith-based membership organization of lay women within The United Methodist Church. UMW members are committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ in community with other women and advocating on behalf of women, children and youth around the world. United Methodist Women have been involved in mission work for more than 140 years.
For Christmas 2020, the UMW adopted a family with three little girls for our Christmas family. We used a wish list to purchase items with our UMW funds and with individual donations for this purpose.
Guests are always welcome. We usually meet the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 am in the Esther Room at PUMC, unless otherwise noted. However, during these Covid times, we are not currently meeting.

What does the UMW do?
Along with supporting world mission work, we support various events in our community as part of our ministries. One such event is providing snacks for Portland elementary school children. Another event is taking our turn (once each month) at providing a community meal at our neighboring church, the First Congregational Church. We use fundraisers to assist us in our ministry work. One of our fund raisers is our fudge sale.
