Journey into worship via our online worship service

January 29, 2023
We Christians want to offer comfort and encouragement in times of trouble.  And so we say things like: ‘God won’t give you more than you can handle.’  The truth is, though, this isn’t as helpful, nor as true, as we might think it is.

Love the sinner, hate the sin.  Sounds logical.  Pretty straight forward.  But oh the pain it has caused.

‘Everything happens for a reason.’  We’ve all heard it said and have maybe said it ourselves.  The thing is, it’s usually not comforting and it’s definitely not biblical.

God helps those who help themselves.  Everything happens for a reason. Love the sinner, hate the sin.  God won’t give you more than you can handle.  Well-meaning Christians have long used these phrases to offer comfort and encouragement – but are they actually biblical?  Not exactly.  Join us as we re-examine these often hurtful sayings and find honest biblical truth that really helps.
