SONiC Youth Ministries Director
SONiC = Serving Other's Needs in Christ
We are always in need of volunteers. If you have given any thought to volunteering, but didn’t because you haven’t been a teen in a long time or because you feel like you were too recently a teen, please stop thinking and contact Beth Feldpausch (firstname.lastname@example.org).
FALL-WINTER 2019 CLASSES
Groove: The Basics
This Youth Study covers basic, and often confusing, themes within our Christian Faith. Classes will be held during both the Traditional Service and Praise Team Service. Students will be dismissed before the sermon to the youth room for a brief lesson and roundtable (without the table) discussion including activities. Study starts Sunday, September 15 and ends Sunday, December 15. A donation of $10 for a youth journal that accompanies the lesson is suggested, and teens are encouraged to bring their Bible.
The Bible Tells Me So (abridged)
NOTE: This group has been rescheduled for Sundays instead of Wednesdays.
This small group study will be a video study discussing a different approach to the Bible. The study will take place at PUMC in the SONiC room on Sundays from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm and is a 5-lesson study. The study starts Sunday, October 6 and ends Sunday, November 10. No study on October 20; no suggested donation. Students please bring a Bible, paper and writing utensil.
Sunday, September 8th - SONiC Sign-Upalooza
Youth will get a quick introduction to the classes and events happening this semester. If they have not signed up for a class or event, they will be able to do so then. Permission forms will also be sent home. General games and merriment will follow. From 6-7:30 pm in the youth room.
Sunday, September 15th - Tri-Unity Bonfire
SONiC, along with Wacousta and Mulliken UMC are welcome to a bonfire at Beth’s house from 6-7:30 pm. Food sign up will be available online.
Saturday, October 12, Cass Community Volunteer Event
Youth, along with fellow church members, will be encouraged to spend a Saturday volunteering with Cass Community Services. In the past, we have made mud mats, moved furniture, and worked in the soup kitchen preparing food. This is an educational and humbling experience. This is usually a morning to late afternoon event.
Sunday, November 17th - SONiC Turkey “Triathalon”
General silly thanksgiving themed games activities. Just an opportunity to get together and have some fun. 5:30-7:30 pm.
Wednesday, December 18th (tentative) - SONiC Gingerbread Scene Assembly
Come help build a gingerbread nativity scene for the church competition. This date could be changed based on the church judging time and based on pre-winter break exams. Tentative time is 6-7:30 pm.
